Life is a Ritual

Rituals are part of my daily routine. As a mother, wife, and birth doula, being able to make space and time for myself is a must. Creating daily mindful habits for ourselves allows us to reach our highest potential as a human, who can sometimes feel limited and overwhelmed.

As a student of mindfulness, I have gained skills that help me go beyond my human limitations and break free from the illusions of the outside world and the monkey mind who is always overthinking. With consistency and intention, we can find the connection with our true essence and presence. Having daily rituals is a mindfulness practice that allows creativity to flow as we open our hearts to a more conscious way of life.

Rituals aren't tasks; rituals are an opportunity to lift your spirit up and make you feel nurtured and loved.

Here are a few of many rituals that you can begin incorporating into your daily life:

Journaling

Writing and journaling have been used as a tool for healing for hundreds of years. Translating our thoughts and feelings into written words offers benefits that support growth and mental health.

Meditation

You can start with five minutes of sitting or lying in silence, paying attention to the breath as it goes in and out. The breathing will help us anchor ourselves into the present moment. Meditation is not about avoiding what arises in our minds but rather observing and acknowledging each thought, feeling, and sensation that is present, without attachment or judgment.

Sipping on Tea

Prepare yourself a warm cup of your favorite tea. Each time you take a sip, pause and savor the flavors, feel the warmth flowing down through your chest. As you hold the cup, notice the beauty of the design and the nourishment you're holding inside the cup.

Candle or Incense

Cleaning your home energy with incense is like renewing yourself and your space, it brings relaxation and improves your mood. Lighting a candle does the same, reminding you to shine your own light within.

Nature

Walk outside; walk barefoot if you can! Take a step out of your busy day and recharge your soul with nature's gifts, the sun, the trees, the air, the beauty, and colors that surround you.
